hands are tied 묶여있다, 손 쓸 방법이 없다

If your hands are tied, you are not free to behave in the way that you would like:

=  If someone’s hands are tied, they cannot help in a particular situation because of rules, laws etc

=  Used to say that someone is unable to act freely because something (such as a rule or law) prevents it

 

손 쓸 방도가 없다, 묶여있다, 도울 수가 없다

주로 "제 권한 밖의 일입니다"라고 말할 때 "My hands are tied."라고 표현합니다.

 

 

Example

: I really would like to help you find it, but my hands are tied.     찾는 걸 정말 도와드리고 싶지만 제 권한 밖의 일이에요.

 

: We feel as though our hands have been tied because we have no power at all.

     우리 중 누구도 힘을 갖고 있지 않아서 손 쓸 방도도 없네.

 

: The bank claims its hands are tied by federal regulators.   은행은 연방 정책 때문에 그들이 아무것도 할 수 없다고 건의했다.
